Head Coach & BJJ Black Belt
Coach Mehdi Rayane
"The goal is not only to create stronger athletes. It is to build better students — people who can think under pressure, move with control, respect their training partners and improve step by step."
Coach Mehdi Rayane is the head coach of Mata Leão Jiu-Jitsu Académie. His development was shaped by serious UK training rooms, progressing from white belt to purple belt under Norbert Nowak of Pro Jiu Jitsu Birmingham, then from purple belt to black belt under Kevin Webb. He also trained under Tom Breese at Team Renegade and alongside Tom Caughey within the wider Nexus BJJ environment.
The coaching standard
Not just showing.
Teaching.
A good coach does not just demonstrate a technique and walk away. They explain the mechanics behind it. They watch you drill it. They correct the small things that matter.
That is the standard at Mata Leão. Coaching is not an afterthought here. It is the reason the room raises the level of everyone inside it.
