Kids Jiu-Jitsu
Why martial arts
for children?
Jiu-Jitsu is not about teaching children to be aggressive. It is about teaching them how to control themselves, how to focus, and how to do hard things.
At Mata Leão, we give young people a structured environment where they learn manners, respect for their coaches and partners, and the confidence that comes from genuine progress.
The environment matters enormously at this age. Strong coaches, serious teammates, clear expectations and a culture of respect give young people a room they can grow into.
Confidence
Built through genuine achievement, not empty praise. When a child masters a technique, they know they earned it.
Focus
Classes demand attention. Following instruction, remembering movements and responding to coaching builds real concentration.
Discipline
Structure, routine, respect for the coach and the room. These habits are built every session and carried beyond the gym.
Resilience
Martial arts involves challenge. Learning to keep going, to accept a mistake and to improve is the real lesson.

Structured Classes
Three sessions.
Three disciplines.
One room.
Kids sessions run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 5:00 PM — each covering a different discipline so young people build a rounded understanding of movement, control and technique.
Footwork, combinations, coordination and guard. Coaching-led with pads and partner work.
Takedowns, movement, level changes and positional control — the foundation of grappling.
Ground control, positional concepts and submission awareness — building the BJJ base.
For parents
A safe, structured
environment.
Mata Leão kids classes are led by experienced coaches who understand how to engage young people while holding a high standard of discipline, safety and respect.
The coaching is firm but positive. The expectations are clear. And the room culture — built around no ego, shared effort and helping each other — gives children a genuine community to belong to.
